Sharing life science infrastructures and skills to benefit the Atlantic Area biotechnology sector

 

ShareBiotech objectives

- Strengthen the biotechnology sector within the Atlantic Area while maximising the benefits of research infrastructures
- Improve the service offer of technological core facilities and facilitate access to these core facilities for researchers and companies
- Set up a transnational network of technological core facilities and increase technology transfer between the various fields (human health, nutrition, agriculture/food-processing, cosmetics, marine biology, environment, etc.)
- Work out a concerted response to any technological need relative to a R&D project

- Project built up by Biogenouest and managed by Bretagne Innovation and CRITT Santé Bretagne
- A consortium of 10 partners from 4 Member States, and associated actors in Scotland
- A project spread over 3 years (2010 - 2012) with a total budget of 2.7 M€
- Project co-financed with the support of the European Union ERDF – Atlantic Area Programme (http://atlanticarea.inescporto.pt).

Main actions

- Design an action plan aimed at answering both academic and industrial needs while improving the offer of technology and skills (starting February 2010)
- Professionalize the core facilities’ service offer and enhance their specificities (starting October 2010)
- Foster interdisciplinarity as well as scientific and technological skill exchange: meetings, colloquia, mobility and education plan, technology transfer, etc. (starting March 2010)
- Build up on actions to establish future cooperations and propose recommendations on equipment or organisations to be set up according to the identified needs (starting October 2011)
